Reorder without losing your place

Start by identifying stable landmarks: the cover, contents page, chapter openings, and final appendix. Moving those anchors first makes a long sequence easier to reason about. Dragging works for nearby pages, while the explicit move controls and keyboard shortcuts provide precise single-step changes and remain practical on touch devices. Multi-selection helps when a small block belongs elsewhere. If a scanner produced the entire stack backwards, Reverse page order is safer and faster than moving every thumbnail individually, and the operation can be undone as one step.

Thumbnails are navigation aids, not a substitute for checking small text, so open the larger preview when two pages look similar. Confirm that duplex scans still alternate correctly and that inserts have not separated a heading from its continuation. Reordering copies PDF page objects rather than taking screenshots, which avoids resolution loss. It does create a new page tree, however, and destinations used by bookmarks, signatures, tagged reading order, or internal links may not survive unchanged. Preserve the source and verify those structures in the downloaded result when they are important.

For handoff, use a filename that distinguishes the reordered copy from its source and confirm the browser finished validating the export. A quick check at several section boundaries catches more ordering problems than reading only the first few pages.
